Box Score Volleyball Wins Sixth Big South Match Of The Season More Information:
CONWAY, S.C. - Coastal Carolina's volleyball team defeated High Point University to gain their sixth Big South Conference win of the season Friday night. CCU defeated the Panthers in four games with scores of 23-30, 30-21, 30-23, and 30-24. The Lady Chanticleers are now 11-7 and 6-0 in the Big South Conference, High Point is 11-10 and 2-4 in league play.
In the first game, Coastal led 21-20 when High Point closed in on the Lady Chants with a nine point run winning the first game 30-23. In the second game, CCU led the Panthers and went on a three point winning run at the end of the game after a kill by
Ashley Scheible (Westerville,Ohio/North) this set the Lady Chants up to win the second game 30-21.
The third game was a tough battle between the Lady Chants and the Panthers. Though the Lady Chants controlled the game, High Point kept the score a three point difference throughout the game. Coastal went on a four point streak to break the 26-23 score at the end of the game, winning 30-23. In the fourth and final game of the match, The Panthers led the game 13-10 when the Lady Chants went on a five point streak after a kill from Scheible. CCU went on to win the fourth game, 30-24.
Katherine Jensen-Spencer (Vancouver, B.C./Sentinel Secondary/Mississippi) led the way for the Lady Chanticleers with her 11
th double-double of the season. Jensen-Spencer tallied 20 kills and 17 digs.
Jennifer Hampton (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro) added 47 assists for the Lady Chants victory as four of the seven aces in the night for CCU. Junior
Laura Obert (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) tallied 11 kills for CCU.
Leading High Point was Jamie Kaufmann who tallied a double-double with 16 kills and 11 digs. Lindsay Raus, Ashley Mellott, and Sabrina Wahid all tallied 10 kills in the Panthers effort.
CCU tallied a total of nine team blocks while High Point tallied seven total team blocks. The Lady Chants hit an overall percentage of .292, while the Panthers hit at .232. The Lady Chanticleers will now face Winthrop in Kimbel Arena Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
