CONWAY, S.C. - Coastal Carolina's volleyball team lost to the College of Charleston in four games Tuesday, game scores were: 30-28, 23-30, 25-30, and 27-30. CCU is now 11-8, while the College of Charleston rose to 19-1.

In game one, the Lady Chants went on a 5-0 streak before C of C could get on the board. After a kill from Rebecca Wieters the Cougars got on the board and had a three-point run. CCU then continued to control the close game and clinch the 30-28 win. The second game was controlled early by the Cougars. C of C had a 28-18 lead when a kill by Katherine Jensen-Spencer (Vancouver, B.C./Sentinel Secondary/Mississippi) got the Lady Chants back into the game. After a four-point run, CCU could not hold on and the Cougars went on to win the second game 30-23.

The College of Charleston attacked early in the third game and had a 15-10 lead when CCU's  Laura Obert (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy ) fought back with a kill and led the Lady Chants as they slightly closed the gap. The Cougars continued to dominate the third game at 26-17 until CCU went on a five-point streak. C of C battled with the Lady Chants and won the third game, 30-25.

In the fourth and final game of the match, the Cougars continued to dominate the game not letting Coastal have more than a three point lead. A kill from Wieters led the Cougars on a four-point streak as they took off and defeated the Lady Chants 30-27.

Leading CCU was Jensen-Spencer who recorded her 13th double-double with 15 kills and 24 digs. Jennifer Hampton (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro ) marked 45 assists in CCU's effort as well as six kills and 11 digs. Obert added 12 kills and Krista Kimble (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro ) tallied 10 for the Lady Chants.

Wieters knocked 18 kills and six digs for the Cougars. Kacye Carr added 60 assists and ten digs in the victory. Amanda Timmers had 15 kills and Annie Uthe had 11 kills.

C of C had 11 total blocks while CCU only had three. The Cougars hit at .237, CCU hit at .150. CCU did out serve the Cougars with nine aces, C of C only tallied six.

CCU will now travel to Radford Friday, Oct. 21 for a 7 p.m. match.
