CONWAY, S.C. - Coastal Carolina's volleyball team posted their eighth win of the season and fifth straight Big South Conference win Saturday after defeating Liberty University in three games. CCU is now 10-6, 5-0 in the Big South Conference, while Liberty falls to 6-12, 2-3 in league play. Game scores were: 30-24, 32-30, and 30-26.

Leading the way for the Lady Chanticleers was Katherine Jensen-Spencer (Vancouver, B.C./Sentinel Secondary/Mississippi) who tallied her ninth double-double of the season with 20 kills and 10 digs. Jensen-Spencer has now moved to CCU's fourth spot for All-Time leaders in kills with a total of 1,258 kills during her career at Coastal. Jennifer Hampton (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro ) tallied 42 assists and 11 digs for the Lady Chants. Krista Kimble (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro ) added 12 kills, while Kali Banghart (Woodbridge, Va./C.D. Hylton ) tallied 21 digs in the victory.   The Flames of Liberty were led by Jessica Nelson who recorded a double-double with 13 kills and 16 digs. Kendall Nichols also recorded a double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs towards the Flames effort. CCU had an overall hitting percentage of .282 while Liberty hit at .169.   In the first game, Coastal led 8-0 until Liberty got on the board. CCU still led for the remainder of the game, but Liberty fought back to keep a close game for a final 30-24 score. The second game was a tough fight for both teams; however Liberty shot out with the 8-4 lead when Coastal took over after a kill from Nakia Thompson (Lexington, S.C./Lexington). The Lady Chants continued to trail Liberty until a 20-22 score after a kill from Jensen-Spencer. The Flames and Lady Chants battled to a 30-30 tie, when CCU took over for the 32-30 win after a kill from Alicia Meyers (Temecula, Calif./Temecula Valley). In game three, CCU maintained a lead until a 18-18 tie broken by a double block from Liberty's Kendall Nichols and Autumn Poorman. The Flames then went to take the 24-20 lead until CCU's Kimble had a kill getting the Lady Chants back into the game. CCU finally wrapped up the third game with the 30-26 win.

Coastal will now face East Carolina University Tuesday, Oct. 11, in Kimbel Arena at 7 p.m. The Lady Chanticleers now hold a 5-0 record in Kimbel Arena for the 2005 season.
