Verrett Named Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week

Coastal Carolina University baseball junior Aaron Verrett (Jupiter, Fla./Polk C.C.) was selected as one of three National Players of the Week by Louisville Slugger and the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, the publication announced with its top 30 rankings today (May 30).
Verrett went 7-of-21 in the Big South Tournament May 25-28 with a double, three home runs and five runs batted in. The three home runs were the first three of the season for Verrett. The most memorable blast was a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth to defeat Winthrop 4-3 in the first championship game. He also hit a home run against Birmingham-Southern May 26 and had one in the second championship game against Winthrop.
On the season, Verrett is hitting .268 wtih 12 doubles, three home runs and 28 RBI.
Verrett joins Nebraska’s Brian Duensing and Mississippi State’s Todd Doolittle as the Louisville Slugger Player’s of the Week.
Coastal (48-14), the top seed in the NCAA Tempe Regional, will face UNLV Friday, June 3 at 5 p.m. EDT (2 p.m. PDT).
