Duggan, Verrett Named to Valley League All-Star Game

Coastal Carolina University baseball players Dom Duggan (Cranberry Twp., Pa./John Carroll) and Aaron Verrett (Jupiter, Fla./Polk C.C.) were selected to play in the Valley Baseball League All-Star Game, played July 10 in Winchester, Va. Both players are on the Haymarket Battle Cats in the North Division.
On the season, Verrett has a .300 batting average with four doubles, a triple and three runs-batted-in after 14 games. He also is 2-for-3 on stolen base attempts. Duggan is batting .260 with a double, a home run and eight RBI in 15 games. He has 10 walks on the year and is 8-for-9 on the basepaths. Both players had late starts to the summer season after the long run the Chanticleers made in the NCAA Regionals.
Before the game, the participants had a skills competition, featuring a home run derby and a 60-yard dash. Duggan won the 60-yard dash in a time of 6.67 seconds. The North squad fell to the South 4-2 in the All-Star game.
The All-Star roster also featured former Chant Chad Oxendine, who was one of the coaches on the North squad. Oxendine is the manager of the Front Royal Cardinals of the Valley League.
