Box Score Volleyball Drops Five Game Thriller to High Point More Information:
HIGH POINT, N.C.- The Coastal Carolina Volleyball team (6-21, 2-9) fell to High Point (8-18, 6-5) in a thrilling five-game match Saturday afternoon. The game scores were 24-30, 30-27, 25-30, 30-25, 15-7.
Coastal was led by junior Nakia Thompson (Lexington, S.C./Lexington) who recorded her 11th double-double on the season tallying 13 kills and 14 digs and freshman Jill Nyhof (Alpharetta, Ga./Northview) who had 10 kills and 11 digs. Senior Ashley Scheible (Westerville, Ohio/North) also had a solid performance recording 11 kills with a .450 hitting percentage being responsible for 16.5 points. Scheible also led the Lady Chant blocking effort having seven assisted blocks in the match. Freshman setter Meagan Tracey (Scottsdale, Ariz./Horizon) finished with 49 assists, 10 digs, six kills, four assisted blocks and three service aces. Sophomore libero Brett Starbuck (Glen Allen, Va./JR Tucker) had a season-best 30 digs. As a team, Coastal had a .122 hitting percentage on 62 kills with 39 errors and had a total of 16 blocks.
High Point was led by Jamie Kaufman who had 22 kills on a .115 hitting percentage. Three Lady Panthers recorded double digits in digs in the match-up, Audrey Gonzalez (26), Lauren Hatch (16) and Tara Dyer (13). Also having a strong performance was Sabrina Wahid who had nine kills with a .412 hitting percentage and two solo blocks. Setter Kristina Taylor had 53 assists and six kills on the night. Lindsay Raus led the Lady Panthers defense recording five assisted blocks. As a team, High Point hit for .149 with 63 kills and 35 errors while recording 13 total blocks.
Coastal is back in action on Halloween (Tuesday, October 31) when they take on College of Charleston in Kimbel Arena at 7 p.m. The Lady Cougars are one of only two teams to defeat the first place Winthrop Eagles earlier this season. High Point also has action on Tuesday when they host the Fighting Camels of Campbell at 7 p.m.
