Box Score Volleyball Swept at High Point More Information:
HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Coastal Carolina University's volleyball team fell to High Point 3-0 on Saturday, Nov. 3 at Mellis Athletic Center. Game scores were 30-26, 30-21,30-26.
Coastal trailed throughout the entire match, but battled back in games one and three. In game one, High Point led by as many as nine points. The Lady Chanticleers started to close the gap with a three-point Meagan Tracey (Scottsdale, Ariz./Horizon) run. Tracey had a kill and two aces during the run to make it a 19-15 game. Meanwhile, a late four-point run allowed Coastal come within three. However, Ashley Mellott's kill stopped Coastal's run and gave High Point the win.
Late In game three, Coastal pulled to within two off an attack error by Stephanie Wallin to make it a 28-26 game in favor of High Point. However, the Panthers got the final two points they needed to win the match.
Freshman Chelsy Kimes (Munster, Ind./Munster) led Coastal with 10 kills. Classmate Megan Bickford (Olathe, Kan./Olathe South) added nine kills with a .412 hitting percentage and five total blocks. Tracey had 26 assists and added four kills off eight total attacks for a .500 hitting percentage. Junior Brett Starbuck (Glen Allen, Va./J.R. Tucker) tallied 16 digs.
High Point had four players register double-digit kills with Lindsay Raus having a match-best 13.
Coastal will conclude the regular season on Friday night at Charleston Southern. Match time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
