Box Score Volleyball Swept by Charlotte, 3-0 More Information:
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Coastal Carolina University volleyball team opened the Comfort Suites 49ers Volleyball Tournament with a 3-0 loss to host Charlotte Friday night at Halton Arena. Game scores were 24-30, 22-30, 29-31.
After committing 18 of their 24 match errors in the first two games, Coastal rebounded in the third game with a .209 hitting percentage. Control of the third game changed throughout with 11 ties, including two late. Junior Kristin Wolf (Andover, Kan./Andover Central) and sophomore Meagan Tracey (Scottsdale, Ariz./Horizon) each tallied kills to knot the game at 28 and 29 points, respectively. However, the 49ers got the final two kills they needed to win the match.
Sophomore Jill Nyhof (Alpharetta, Ga./Northview) tallied a team-high 12 kills, while freshman Megan Bickford (Olathe, Kan./Olathe South) hit a team-best .308. Junior Brett Starbuck (Glen Allen, Va./J.R. Tucker) totaled a match-high 18 digs.
Alma Arroyo and Cori Dayton each had double-doubles for Charlotte. Arroyo had a match-high 16 kills and 12 digs, while Dayton had 14 kills and 15 digs. Eden Ramos put up a match-high 39 assists and Carly Romberg had a match-high 18 digs.
The Lady Chanticleers return to action at the Comfort Suites 49ers Volleyball Tournament on Saturday with two matches. Coastal plays UNC Greensboro at 10 am and then faces Morgan State at 4:30 p.m.
