Radford seemed to be showing some tired legs after a five-set victory over Charleston Southern the night before, battling to a .028 attacking percentage. Coastal Carolina cruised to a 25-9 win in the first set behind eight kills from sophomore
Amanda Russell (Liberty, Ind./Union County). Radford seemed to find its feet in the second frame and would keep up with Coastal Carolina, playing to a 19-19 tie. The Chanticleers tallied the next three points as Nyhof knocked home an unassisted kill to put the Chants up 22-19. The Highlanders trimmed the lead to one point at 23-22, but the Chanticleers put the set away 25-2 with a kill by Kimes and an attacking error by Radford. Radford took an early 4-0 lead in the third stanza, but the Chanticleers kept the Highlanders in close sight. Kimes powered through Radford's defense five consecutive times to even the set at 11-11. Finding themselves deadlocked again at 17-17, the Chants recorded the next five points to take a 22-17 advantage. Radford rallied back to save a match point at 24-22 and tied the set at 24-24. The Highlanders continued to put the Chanticleers on the defensive and snuffed out the final two points of the set for a 26-24 win. Battling to a 7-7 tie in the fourth frame, Coastal Carolina tallied the next six points, including three blocks, for a 13-7 lead. The Chanticleers looked in control at 23-16, but Radford would not give up, trimming the lead to four at 23-19. Four points would be the closest the Highlanders would come as the Chants picked up a 25-21 victory in the fourth frame. Kimes led the Chanticleers with 17 kills, while Bickford tallied 13 kills and eight blocks. Nyhof was solid for the Chants tallying 13 kills on a .500 hitting percentage and registered three blocks.
