CONWAY, S.C. – Junior Amanda Stull (Rushville, Ind./Rushville Consolidated) scored 13 of her game-high 16 points in the first half, leading the Coastal Carolina University women’s basketball team a 63-44 victory over Jacksonville Saturday, Nov. 22 at Kimbel Arena. The Chanticleers (4-0) had three players in double figures and shot 46 percent from the field, while Jacksonville (1-2) was limited to just just 31 percent from the floor.   The Chants jumped out on top early with an 11-2 run over the first four minutes and were up 15-6 with 14:49 left in the half, led by Stull's six points. JU fought back to trim it to 18-14 with just under 10 minutes to play and 20-16 moments later before the Chants pushed the lead the remainder of the half. Coastal Carolina gradually built the lead to the largest margin, capped off by Devin Rivers' layup as the clock expired to put the Chants up 37-22 at the intermission. The Chanticleers shot 51.9 percent in the first half while the Dolphins shot 30 percent from the field.   Coastal Carolina came out of the break with a 13-2 run stretching the lead to 50-24 six minutes into the second half on a jumper by sophomore Sydnei Moss (North Augusta, S.C./N. Augusta). Facing a 26-point deficit, the Dolphins began to pressure Coastal Carolina forcing seven turnovers by the Chants and put together a 12-0 run over the next five minutes, cutting the lead to 50-36 with 9:01 remaining in the game. After a trade of buckets, Coastal Carolina rose to the occasion, as the Chants went on a 9-2 run, capped off as sophomore Kate Jasinski (Toledo, Ohio/Penn (Ind.)) stepped behind the arc and knocked down the only three-pointer of the day. That triple put the Chanticleers up 61-40 with 3:49 to play, closing the door on any Jacksonville comeback.   Stull matched her career high with 16 points and has registered in double figures in the past three games for the Chanticleers. Junior Devin Rivers (Miami, Fla./Felix Varela) recorded 13 points and six boards and Moss added 11 points and five rebounds for the Chants. Sophomore Katie White (St. Charles, Ill./East) was in action for the first time this season and picked up six points, seven rebounds and two blocks. Coastal Carolina dominated the glass outrebounding the Dolphins 46 to 27.   Jacksonville’s only player to hit double figures was Desarae Johnson who tallied 13 points for the Dolphins.     Coastal Carolina travels to College of Charleston Tuesday, Nov. 25. The Cougars open their home slate that night at the new Carolina First Arena.
