More Information:

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Sophomore Kate Jasinski poured in a career-high 23 points, but the Coastal Carolina University women's basketball team dropped a 72-58 decision to College of Charleston at Carolina First Arena Tuesday, Nov. 25. The Chanticleers are now 4-1 on the season, while the Cougars improve to 3-1 overall.   Jasinski started hot going 4-for-4 from the field, including two three-pointers as Coastal Carolina built an early 15-10 lead with 15:06 remaining in the game. The teams continued to trade buckets for the remainder of the half, and Coastal Carolina headed into the break with a 32-31 advantage.   College of Charleston came out of the lockerroom rejuvenated and put together a 14-2 run to go ahead 50-34 with 13:41 left in the half. The Chanticleers looked out of sorts and sluggish on defense during the run as Jasinski attempted to revive the Chant offense knocking down 11 points to pull within 11 at 62-51 with a little under eight minutes to play. A steady attack for the Cougars maintained a 14-point edge for most of the second half and the Chants found themselves on the losing end for the first time this season.   Coastal Carolina shot 29 percent from the field in the second half, while College of Charleston shot 48 percent from the floor to outscore the Chants 41 to 26 in the final frame. For the game, Jasinski was 10-of-18 from the field and picked up four steals and five rebounds. Junior Amanda Stull was the only other Chant to score in double digits with 11 points and added three assists. Sophomore Sydnei Moss narrowly missed her second double-double of the season, grabbing 10 rebounds and nine points.   College of Charleston had two players register double-doubles with Erika Williams recording 17 points and 12 rebounds and teammate Nikki Williams posting 15 points and 14 boards.   The Chanticleers were without junior Devin Rivers in the lineup and lost sophomore Katie White late in the second half to an injury. With these two players missing in action, the Chanticleers were outhustled on the boards 51-33 by the Cougars. College of Charleston also drained nine baskets from behind the arc, as Coastal Carolina hit four treys in the game.   College of Charleston was lifted by their bench who scored 35 points, while Coastal Carolina's reserves managed just six points in the game.     Coastal Carolina returns to Kimbel Arena for back-to-back games this weekend when they face Southern Virginia Saturday, Nov. 29 at 2 p.m., followed by a date with Coker College Sunday, Nov. 30 at 2 p.m.
