CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University women's basketball team set a school record for fewest points in a half by an opponent and sailed past Southern Virginia 76-36 Saturday, Nov. 29 at Kimbel Arena. The Chanticleers (5-1) held the Lady Knights (5-1) to just three points in the first 20 minutes of play, grabbing a 37-3 advantage at the half. Every player dressed for the Chanticleers made a contribution on the scoreboard, as all 10 players earned a bucket in the victory. Sophomore Jessica Noll used the final 10 minutes in the game to register a career-high 15 points, shooting 6-for-10 on the day. 

Coastal Carolina set the tone in the first five minutes of play with the starting five each registering a point to take a quick 14-0 lead. The Lady Knights' only points of the half came on a three-pointer by Tricia Dixon, with 15:03 left to play. 

Coastal Carolina used a rotating lineup throughout the contest and finished the half on a 23-0 run, completely shutting down the Southern Virginia offense. Coastal Carolina forced the Lady Knights into 24 turnovers in the opening frame and scored 24 points from the giveaways. Southern Virginia shot seven percent in the first half going 1-for-14 from the field, while the Chants shot 46.9 percent from the floor. 

A more poised Southern Virginia team began the second half, as Dixon hit a jumper for the second basket of the game, putting the score at 41-5 with 16:40 remaining in the half. Noll drove to the basket for her first bucket of the game with 10:30 left on the clock, going on to score a career-high 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field in the final frame. The Lady Knights did what they could in the second half, but the Chanticleers built a hefty 49-point lead with 2:48 remaining at 74-25, which was too much to overcome as the Chants coasted to the 76-36 victory. 

Noll's 15 points led the Chants, while junior Amanda Stull recorded her fifth consecutive game in double-digits by tallying 14 points. Sophomore Kate Jasinski posted nine points and five assists for the Chanticleers, while junior Devin Rivers returned to the lineup after a one-game injury hiatus and went 4-for-4 from the field for eight points and pulled down five rebounds. After being outscored in four of the past five contests, Coastal Carolina's reserves showed the squads depth scoring 33 points, while the Southern Virginia Bench mustered five points. 

Southern Virginia was led by Dixon who had 23 points and six rebounds in the game. Kezia Ford scored six points and grabbed four rebounds for the Lady Knights. 

The Chanticleers will take a 22-hour break and return to the court Sunday, Nov. 30 when they will host Coker College in Kimbel Arena at 2 p.m.
