Men's Tennis Downs Boston University, 7-0 More Information:
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Coastal Carolina's men's tennis team swept Boston University 7-0 Thursday, March 13 at Prestwick Country Club. The Chanticleers (7-7) won all three doubles matches and all six singles matches in the team's third win in the last four matches.
In doubles competition, sophomores Plamen Tzvetkov (Herts, United Kingdom/Stanborough) and Ernesto Ramos (Tampico, Mexico/Instituto Andes (Jacksonville)) topped Jeff Chudacoff and Charles Weinstein 8-5 at No. 1 doubles. Sophomore Dmitry Vlaskin (Moscow, Russia/Moscow 1201) and senior David Mellis (London, England/Goffs) had an 8-1 victory over Miron Nissim and Phil DeMeo in the No. 2 slot. Freshman John Hairston (Myrtle Beach, S.C./Myrtle Beach) and junior Joseph Withers (Peoria, Ill./Dunlap (Liberty)) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-2 win over Giulio Galloratti and Daniel Frid at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Vlaskin downed Galloratti 6-4, 7-5 in the No. 1 slot and Ramos recorded a 6-3, 6-3 win over Chudacoff at No. 2 singles. Mellis defeated Weinstein 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles and Hairston got a three-set victory over Nissim 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 in the No. 4 slot. Tzvetkov earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Hans Sapra at the No. 5 slot, while freshman Omar El Bouzkouri (Meknes, Morocco/Schiller) came away with a 1-6, 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles to complete the sweep.
Coastal Carolina returns to action Wednesday, March 19 when the Chants host No. 2 Ohio State at 9:30 a.m. The match is currently scheduled to take place at CCU's Billy Nichols Tennis Center.
