ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Coastal Carolina's softball team closed out its three-game series at Winthrop with a 3-1 loss Sunday, April 20 at Terry Field.

The game was scoreless until Winthrop recorded two home runs in the bottom of the third. With one out, Lisa Kingsmore had a solo shot to center field, while Mallory Hogan's two-out shot went to right field and gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead.

The Eagles added to their lead in the fifth. Tessa Thomas started the inning with a single, advanced to second on a Kingsmore sacrifice bunt and then moved to third on a Stephanie Reid groundout. Thomas then scored on a Hogan RBI single to put Winthrop up 3-0.

Coastal got on the scoreboard in the top of the sixth.
