Here is a season wrap-up of the former Coastal Carolina University baseball players currently playing in professional baseball.
Pete Andrelczyk finished his season with the Jupiter Hammerheads, the High-A affiliate of the Florida Marlins in the Florida State League. He was 2-1 with a 5.06 earned-run average for Jupiter. He also had 11 strikeouts in 10.2 innings. With Low-A Greensboro, Andrelczyk had 19 saves and a 2.29 ERA in 44 appearances and was named to the South Atlantic League All-Star Game.
David Anderson hit .271 with 11 doubles, three triples and four home runs for the Gulf Coast League Orioles in the Baltimore organization. Anderson drove in 35 runs, had a .431 slugging percentage and scored 28 runs in 50 games.
Tommy Baldridge played with both the Tampa Yankees (High-A) and the Charleston River Dogs (Low-A) of the New York Yankees organization. At Charleston, he had 23 hits, three doubles and a home run in 42 games.
Tyler Bortnick hit .300 with 17 doubles, four triples and four home runs for the Hudson Valley Renegades, the Short-Season A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays. Bortnick was 10th in the New York Penn League in batting average. Bortnick also has 27 walks, 24 stolen bases and a .470 slugging percentage for the Renegades. Bortnick was named to the New York-Penn League All-Star Game.
Mike Costanzo played for both the Norfolk Tides (AAA) and the Bowie Baysox (AA) in the Baltimore organization. An injury cut his season short, but he combined for 16 doubles, three triples and three home runs in 82 games played.
Dock Doyle hit .257 with eight doubles, two triples and a home run for the Brooklyn Cyclones, the Short-Season A affiliate of the New York Mets. Doyle had 18 RBI and 44 hits in 49 games. Doyle also was named to the New York-Penn League All-Star Team.
Dom Duggan had eight doubles, five triples and three home runs for the Augusta Greenjackets, the Low-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. Duggan drove in 33 runs and stole 23 bases for Augusta in 92 games.
Bobby Gagg split time with the Gulf Coast Mets, the Kingsport Mets and the Brooklyn Cyclones of the New York Mets organization. Gagg struck out six in seven innings pitched for the Gulf Coast Mets. He then pitched five games for Kingsport, striking out seven in five innings pitched. For Brooklyn, he was 2-0 with a save and struck out 11 in 12 innings of work.
Brett Grandstrand had 17 doubles, two triples and three home runs for the Washington Wildthings of the Frontier League. Grandstrand drove in 29 runs and stole eight bases for the Wildthings.
Austin Hinkle had a 3.53 ERA and seven saves for the Charlotte Stone Crabs, the High-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays in the Florida State League. Hinkle struck out 65 batters in 74 innings and also made three starts for the Stone Crabs.
Luis Lopez is hitting .278 with 17 doubles, a triple, eight home runs and 74 RBI for the Bridgeport Bluefish of the Atlantic League, who still has games remaining on the schedule. Lopez has scored 71 runs in 132 games played for the Bluefish.
John Mariotti finished the season with a 3.86 ERA, splitting time between Frederick (High-A) and Bowie (AA) of the Baltimore Orioles organization. Mariotti had a 3.72 ERA and started 13 games in Bowie. He struck out 30 batters and pitched 82.1 innings.
Nick McCully had a 1-0 record with 19 strikeouts in 20 innings of work for Quad Cities, the Low-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. McCully made 16 appearances for the River Bandits, allowing 24 hits and earning a win August 31 at Clinton.
David Sappelt split time between Dayton (Low-A) and Sarasota (High-A) of the Cincinnati Reds organization. Sappelt hit .299 in Sarasota with 10 doubles, three triples and four home runs in 62 games played. Sappelt also had 47 stolen bases between Dayton and Sarasota. He had a .410 slugging percentage in Sarasota and a .747 OPS.
Matt Sutton hit .264 with 16 doubles, two triples and 15 home runs with the Washington Wildthings of the Frontier League. Sutton drove in 52 runs and had a .440 on-base percentage for the Wildthings.
