CLINTON, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina University volleyball team fell 3-1 (25-21, 25-20, 26-24) to Presbyterian on Friday, Oct. 29, at the Templeton Center. The Chanticleers move to 13-13 overall and 6-5 in the Big South, while the Blue Hose improve to 12-14 and 5-6 in the league.

Senior Megan Bickford finished with a team-high eight kills, hitting .538 and posting five blocks. Bickford also tied Kelsie Mauck with two service aces on the night. Erika Lightsey recorded seven kills, while Amanda Russell and Meghan Laffin added six kills each. Lindsay Gill had a team-high nine digs, and Mauck and Lauren Alejo dished out 14 and 13 assists, respectively.

In the first set, the Blue Hose went out to an early 4-1 lead, but the Chants came back to within one at 4-3 before PC went on an 8-1, putting the set out of reach. At 16-12, the Blue Hose went on another 5-2 run to put the Chants down by six at 21-14. Coastal tried to get its offense together, but the deficit was too much to overcome as PC took the first set 25-21. Lightsey and Russell tallied three kills apiece, and Mauck finished with five assists.

Both teams started off evenly matched as the second set saw nine ties and three lead changes, before the Blue Hose took a two-set lead with a 25-20 win. PC started the set with a 4-1 lead, but Coastal battled back to tie the set at 6-all. Following the final tie at 16-all, the Blue Hose went on a 6-3 run to give PC a 21-19 lead. Coastal would win one more point before PC would finish the set on a 3-0 run. Laffin registered a set-high five kills and posted two blocks in the set.

In the third set, the Blue Hose went out to an 8-1 lead, but the Chanticleers gradually came back to tie the set at 22-all. The squads went point-for-point until PC took the final lead at 25-24. PC's Allison Brown ended the match with a final kill to give the Blue Hose a 26-24 set win. Bickford came alive in the third set, recording five kills and posting five blocks.

The Chanticleers return to the court on Saturday, Oct. 30, at 2 p.m., facing Gardner-Webb.
