CONWAY, S.C. - After a grueling, down to the wire match, the Coastal Carolina University volleyball team fell 3-2 (23-25, 25-21, 21-25, 25-18, 11-15) on Senior Day to Liberty on Saturday, Nov. 6 in its final home match of the season at Kimbel Arena. The Chanticleers fall to 14-15 overall and 7-7 in the Big South while the Lady Flames improve to 21-8 and 12-2 in the league.

Senior Chelsy Kimes recorded her 16th double-double of the season, finishing with a match-high 22 kills and 10 digs. Erika Lightsey added 12 kills while Megan Bickford tallied 11 kills. Lauren Alejo and Kelsie Mauck dished out 34 and 22 assists, respectively. Freshman Lindsay Gill registered 17 digs and Meghan Laffin posted five blocks.

Liberty finished the match with four players registering double digit kills and three recording double digit digs. Lillie Happel had a team-high 15 kills for the Lady Flames and Karyl Bacon and Loren Thomas were not far behind, recording 13 and 12 kills, respectively. Jade Craycraft finished with a match-high 52 assists and Kelly Haseman registered 25 digs for Liberty. Thomas posted four blocks on the day and Kendle Rollins tallied three.

Liberty took the first set 25-23, following 11 ties and five lead changes. Both teams stayed close throughout the entire set and at 19-all, the Chants went on a 4-1 run to give Coastal a 23-20 lead. The Lady Flames fought back, going on a 5-0 run to regain the lead and win the set.

In the second set, the teams went back and forth until at 7-all, Coastal went on an 11-2 run to put them ahead 18-9. Liberty did not go away easily as the Lady Flames gradually came back to within three at 22-19. The Chanticleers finished the set on a 3-2 run to tie the match at 1-1. Kimes recorded a set-high eight kills while Liberty's Craycraft dished out 12 assists.

The third set saw six ties, but Liberty never gave up the lead, winning 25-21 to go up 2-1 in the match. Coastal kept it close until at 19-all, the Lady Flames went on a 6-2 run to finish the set. Liberty's Happel finished with six kills in the set while Lightsey added four to her total, hitting .571.

Following one early tie in the fourth set, Coastal took the lead at 2-1 and never looked back. At 12-8, the Chants went on an 8-5 run to put them ahead 20-13. Liberty tried to build a comeback, but its 4-0 run was halted on kill by Kimes. Coastal finished the set on a 4-1 run, winning 25-18 and tying the match at 2-2.

In the deciding set, the Chanticleers took an early 2-1 lead, but Liberty fought back to take the final lead at 5-4. Following a 3-1 run by the Lady Flames, the Chants found themselves down 8-5 and the deficit proved to be too much as Liberty cruised to a 15-11 set win to win the match. Liberty's Thomas registered four kills on four attempts while Coastal's Kimes added another four kills to her total.

The Chanticleers finish out the regular season, traveling to Radford on Nov. 12 for a 7 p.m. match and High Point on Nov. 13 for a 2 p.m. match.

The Lady Flames travel to Radford for their next match on Nov. 9 at 7 p.m.
