Post-game Quotes
Coastal Carolina Head Coach David Bennett
Opening Statement:

"It's a good win. A win is a win and we needed a win bad. I'm proud of our guys getting a win. I thought it was a great effort in the first half. We had some good drives and got up 21 to 0 and I am very proud of that. But again, you don't stop coaching. You go let's get another one, let's get another one. And when DSU had it on our goal line, they were averaging 7 yards per carry and only threw a couple of passes and our defense held them and got it into fourth down. Then Josh Norman blocked the field goal and Tarvorris Jolly ran it back and we went up 28-0, and man, we were feeling real good right there."

On Coastal's Team:
"For us to be a championship team, we have to finish it off."

"Great championship teams will score more points and keep their opponents shut out."

"They have tenacity and they didn't quit, but again, we have high goals for this football team. I told them today, what a great opportunity to be 0-3 and to show people we are a good football team."

On Coastal's Defense:
"Our defense did a great job holding DSU throughout the game and then on the goal line a few times. I am very proud of them."

Delaware State Head Coach Al Lavan

On the play on Coastal Carolina after a 0-3 start:
"I was not surprised at all by the way Coastal came out and played tonight. The way they played tonight is the way they played in the first three ball games. Like I said earlier in the week, I think Coastal was one of the best 0-3 ball teams that I have seen in a long time. Coastal was able to execute their offense, defense, and special teams very well. Their execution didn't surprise me. The one thing that did surprise me was the fact that we didn't execute as well as I though we would."

On a 0-3 start to the season:
"We are disappointed, but certainly not discouraged. We have a lot of work to do to improve our football team and improve players on our team. That is the journey we have as a coaching staff. The most important thing to do right now is get back to Dover, Del. and tomorrow night, when we have our practice for a Thursday game, we have to get better. And we will get better."
