CLINTON, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina University softball team dropped both games of the doubleheader against Presbyterian College on Friday, April 22, falling 2-1 in game one and 8-1 in game two. The Chanticleers fall to 19-28 overall and 3-8 in the Big South while the Blue Hose improve to 24-14 overall and 8-6 in the league.

The first game started as a pitching duel between Coastal's Ashley Bagwell and PC's Leslie Hensley with three scoreless innings.

The Blue Hose were first to score in the bottom of the fourth as Katie Anderson hit a home run down the left field line for a 1-0 lead. PC added another run in the fourth as Taylor Staten came home on a bases loaded walk, giving the Blue Hose a 2-0 lead.

Presbyterian College loaded the bases again in the fifth inning, but Coastal got out of the jam without allowing any runs to score.

The Chants tried to extend the game in the top of the seventh, but came up short by one run. Jazmin Daigle led off with a double to the left field wall and Kara Vonatzski came in to pinch run. Sarah Maples followed with a single to centerfield, advancing Vonatzski to third. Cacia Pierre hit into a double play for two quick outs, but Michelle Evans kept Coastal alive with a hit up the middle bringing Vonatzski home to cut the Blue Hose lead to one. The Chanticleers could not keep the rally going as the Blue Hose won 2-1.
