Final Stats

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Coastal Carolina women's soccer fell to No.16 Tennessee by a 4-0 final at Regal Soccer Stadium on Friday, Sept. 16.

The win improves Tennessee to 7-1-0 on the season as the Chanticleers fall to 0-7-1.

The highly ranked Lady Vols quickly jumped out to a 1-nil lead in the fifth minute as Carolina Brown found the back of the net from seven yards out for the eventual game winner. Tennessee added additional goals in the first half off the foot of Kylie Bono and Emily Dowd in the 13th and 19th minute, respectively.

Freshman Rylie Johnson and sophomore Alyssa Clark ripped off shots in the first half to lead Coastal. Johnson's attempt sailed wide, while Clark's header attempt was blocked.

The Lady Vols' Dowd netted her second goal of the evening in the fifth minute of the second half to account for the final 4-0 score.

Coastal nearly got on the board in the 73' minute as senior Jessie Benchley elevated for a header that would drift just wide of the goal. The Chants' final scoring attempt, a shot by Cami Skladany, sailed just high of the crossbar in the 87'.

Megan Spencer made her collegiate debut for the Chants as she picked up the start between the posts. Spencer recorded her first career save in the 10' as she thwarted a well stuck ball from the Vols' Chelsea Hatcher. The sophomore finished the match with fives saves on a combined nine shots on frame.

The Chants return to the pitch on Sunday, Sept. 25 at the CCU Soccer Field to take on Florida Tech. The game, scheduled for a Noon kick off, marks Coastal's final non-conference match of the season and the first game played at home since Aug. 28.
