CONWAY - Liberty used a season-high 61.4 shooting percentage from the field, including 78.3 percent in the first half, to dispatch Coastal Carolina 82-45 at Kimbel Arena on Saturday afternoon.

The setback, Coastal's first at home this season, drops the Chanticleers to 9-5 (2-3, Big South) on the season as the win improves Liberty to 8-7 (3-1, Big South).

Liberty took charge of the game in the first eight minutes as the Lady Flames jumped out to 20-6 lead thanks to three Coastal turnovers and a 7-of-8 shooting performance from the field. During the stretch, Liberty held Coastal to 1-of-10 from the floor as preseason All-Big South selection Devon Brown scored eight of her game-high 21 points.

The Lady Flames continued their hot shooting throughout the remainder of the half, including 10 in a row at one point, as they built a 46-22 lead heading into the intermission on a season-high first half 78.3 (18-of-23) shooting percentage. In addition to Liberty's shooting, the Chants were hindered by 15 turnovers that led to 16 Lady Flame points.

After Liberty's Danika Dale converted a layup to start the second half, Shatia Cole put together a 5-0 run of her own with a triple and two at the free throw line to cut the Liberty lead to 21 at 48-27. Liberty immediately responded with an 18-1 run over the ensuing 6:34 to extinguish any hopes of Coastal's fourth come-from-behind win of the season.

The Chanticleers continued to battle throughout the remainder of the game and outscored the Lady Flames 15-9 over the final four minutes of play. During the run, Kayla Cook scored eight of her team-high 10 points as she connected on two triples and a mid-range jumper. The run also saw Katelyn Connor sink a pair of free throws and freshman Jena Hamrick knock down her first collegiate 3-pointer.

Coastal finished the game shooting a season-high 90.5 percent from the charity stripe as the Chants made 19 of 21 attempts.

Coastal closes out its current two-game homestand on Monday as it welcomes the Radford Highlanders to Kimbel Arena. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m.
