Final Stats
CONWAY - Coastal Carolina ran its record to 9-1 with a 4-2 victory over James Madison on Saturday afternoon at the Billy Nichols Tennis Center.
"I was really pleased with the energy early in the doubles point," said head coach Chris Powers. "The singles matches were really close but we gained the momentum early, I give a lot of credit to JMU for their intensity."
Coastal won the doubles point with Danny Heidecker and Garik Yedigarian winning 8-6 followed by John Karle and Sam Barr defeating their opponent 8-1 to take a 1-0 lead.
Playing at the No. 3 position, Yusuke Kusuda blanked Florent Sentenac to earn the second point of the match. Yedigarian won 6-2, 6-3 over Hugo Ramadier to give Coastal a 3-0 lead.
James Madison would earn the next two points to pull within one but Leo Christofides would win the last point 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 giving Coastal the match.
Coastal travels to Furman on Tuesday, March 10 with first serve set for 3 p.m.
