Wilmington, N.C. - UNC Wilmington won two of three doubles matches and took all six singles matches to complete a 7-0 sweep of Coastal Carolina Wednesday.
Coastal Carolina drops to 3-3 while #39 UNC Wilmington improves to 7-3.
Coastal started the match strong as the No. 3 doubles pair of John Karle and Leo Christofides downed Michael Reilly and C. Van der Burgh of UNCW, 8-3.
The Seahawks rallied as the #15 pair of Chris Cooprider and Kosta Blank bested Coastal's pair of Garik Yedigarian and Matias Di Pasquale while the #44 pair of Rafael Aita and Sam Williams took an 8-3 victory over Yusuke Kusuda and Ted Nilsson.
The Seahawks continued their winning streak into singles action, taking all six singles matches.
#22 Rafael Aita took a 6-1, 6-0 win over Yusuke Kusuda; Chris Cooprider defeated Leo Christofides 6-3, 6-1; Sam Williams downed Ten Nilsson 6-4, 6-3; Kosta Blank claimed a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Garik Yedigarian; Matias Di Pasquale gave Zach Hublitz some trouble, but eventually lost 5-7, 3-6; and Pedro Mol rounded out the singles action by beating Hunter Whalen 6-4, 6-1.
The Chants will return to Conway for a three-game home stand, beginning with a 1 p.m. match against Davidson on March 3.
