Sept. 13, 2014 CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina University women's soccer team's game at host UNC Wilmington in the Hilton Garden Inn Mayfaire Invitational has been moved to Monday evening.
The game, originally scheduled for Sunday afternoon, will now be played Monday at 7 p.m. at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.
The change was made after the late game of the tournament on Friday between UNC Wilmington and Francis Marion was postponed due to thunderstorms. The game was stopped with the score tied at 1-1 due to lightning and never able to be restarted before it reached the 65-minute mark. The match was replayed on Saturday with UNC Wilmington winning 8-0 after scoring seven goals in the first half.
The Seahawks have won four of their last five games to improve to 4-3 on the season. They notched a 3-2 overtime victory against Wake Forest and also defeated Charlotte (4-2) and Campbell (1-0). Their losses have come to No. 5 Virginia Tech, N.C. State and Georgia Southern.
Coastal (3-4) will be looking to end a three-game losing streak as it nears the end of non-conference play. After Monday's game, the Chanticleers will travel to Georgia Southern Friday, Sept. 19 in their final match before the start of the Big South schedule.
