2016 Coastal Carolina Lacrosse Schedule
The Coastal Carolina lacrosse program -- entering its fourth season of competition -- will open the 2016 season at home (Feb. 19 versus Elon) and play a total of seven home games at Brooks Stadium, announced first-year head coach Kristen Selvage.
"Our Coastal Carolina lacrosse team and coaching staff have been working diligently to prepare for an exhilarating 2016 season," Selvage said. "This schedule will offer our Chanticleers many challenging opponents that will only help us to grow as a program and improve our chances at success in the post season. "
After hosting Elon, Coastal will travel to Jacksonville for a two-day event (Feb. 28 -- Mar. 1). The Chants will face the host Dolphins, which ranked second in the NCAA in goals scored last season (15.55 avg.) before playing Niagara the following day. Other opponents ranking among the NCAA leaders in scoring include Winthrop (fourth) and Louisville (22nd).
Coastal will return from Florida to host Mercer (Mar. 11) and Kennesaw State (Mar. 13) before taking to the road for a five-game road swing. At the end of the road trip, the Chanticleers will open Big south play at High Point (Mar. 26).
The Chants open April by hosting Liberty (Apr. 2) and will play four of their first five games of the month at home. After playing the Flames, Coastal will host Campbell (Apr. 6), Longwood (Apr. 16) and Winthrop (Apr. 20). The lone road trip will be at Gardner-Webb on Apr. 9. Coastal will close the 2016 regular season with a road game at Radford (Apr. 23) and a neutral-site game with Vermont in Lutherville, Md., on Apr. 25.
