LYNCHBURG, Va. — No. 2 seed Liberty scored the game's first seven goals and held off a rally by fourth-seeded Coastal Carolina for a 14-8 win Saturday in the ASUN Women's Lacrosse Championship title game at the Liberty Lacrosse Field.
The loss ended Coastal Carolina's postseason run as the Chanticleers (8-10) reached the ASUN Championship final for the second consecutive season. Liberty (12-8) claimed its first ASUN tournament title and earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Gabrielle Beaudet paced Coastal Carolina with three goals, all coming on free-position shots, while
Sydney McClure scored twice in the fourth quarter to cap the Chanticleers' scoring.

Devin Rybacki and
Megan Hummel also found the net for Coastal.
Charlotte Sadler made 17 saves for Coastal Carolina, matching her second-highest total of the season. The Chants were outshot 37-25 and trailed in the draw control battle 14-11. Flames goalkeeper Rachel Hines recorded 12 saves in the win.
Taiva Reinertson led the Flames with four goals and two assists, including a pair of fourth-quarter scores that helped Liberty seal the win after Coastal cut the deficit to 10-6 late in the third. Mackenzie Lehman added a hat trick, and Katie Colavito and Ava Rajala each scored twice.
Liberty led 5-0 after one quarter and 8-3 at halftime. Coastal scored three times in the second quarter, including back-to-back free-position goals from Beaudet and Rybacki, but never closed the margin to fewer than four in the second half.
