Final Stats

Clinton, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina women's basketball team could not find an answer to Presbyterian's Cortney Storey, whose 27 points led the Blue Hose (12-13, 8-8) to a 78-56 victory over the Chanticleers (10-14, 4-11) at the Templeton Center on Tuesday night.

Presbyterian's league-leading defense also contributed to the Coastal loss, becoming just the third Big South team this season to hold the Chanticleer offense under 60 points, and first to keep Coastal under 30 rebounds (26). PC's defense additionally held the Chanticleers to shooting just 37.0 percent from the field, while the Blue Hose offense went 30-56 (53.6%) from the field and 6-16 (37.5%) from beyond the arc.

Coastal's streak of impressive free throw shooting carried into Tuesday night's game, however, as the Chanticleers went 11-11 from the line, and are now 45-52 (86.5%) in their last three games.

As was the case in the first meeting between the teams this season, AJ Jordan was held scoreless in the first half but came back to lead the Chants in scoring. The senior guard's 16 points on 5-13 from the floor and 6-6 from the line put her three points short of passing Sydnei Moss to become Coastal's eighth all-time point getter.

Ced Gibson followed with 13 points shooting 4-7 from the field, including 3-5 from distance, while hitting both shots from the charity stripe. Jas Adams was the third Chant in double figures with 10 points.

Storey averaged exactly one point per minute for the Blue Hose, and shot an impressive 10-11 from the field, 4-4 from beyond the arc and 3-3 from the line. Rebecca Walker followed with 10 points for PC, while Aianna Kelly, Keyonna Allen and Noelle Carter shared the team lead with five rebounds apiece.

Presbyterian ended the first half with a 35-21 lead after shooting 55.6 percent from the field and receiving 19 points from Storey. Coastal's 27.3 percent shooting in the first half improved to 46.2 percent in the second, but 10 Blue Hose players recorded points in the second to keep PC well in front.

Storey played just 10 minutes in the second before sitting the remainder of the game, but still managed to score eight points off of a layup, 3-pointer and three free throws. Walker and Kayce Reffner also matched Storey with eight points in the final 20 minutes. Jordan scored Coastal's first six points in the second half, and continued to be the Chants' leading offensive producer for the remainder of the game.

Coastal returns to the HTC Center for its next two games, beginning with a 1 p.m. tip against Longwood on Saturday. The Chants and Lancers will be broadcast on ESPN3.
