Women's Tennis Blanks Longwood 7-0

CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team held Longwood scoreless on Sunday afternoon as the Chanticleers defeated the visiting Lancers 7-0 in Big South action at the Coastal Carolina Tennis Complex.
The win keeps the Chants perfect in conference play at 3-0, and improves their overall record to 9-4. It is also Coastal's eighth consecutive victory, marking the program's longest streak since the Chants won 12 straight in the 2008-09 season. Longwood fell to 6-9, 1-5 with the loss.
The Chants' swept the Lancers on the doubles court to take a 1-0 match lead.
Marie Babayan's and Libby Scott's 8-2 victory on the third court was followed by an 8-3 win from Cari Berry and Romane Delay at No. 1. Honami Yazawa and Sara Bondar, paired together at No. 2, closed the doubles round with an 8-5 defeat of Longwood Anna Pelak and Nicole Parker.
Delay started singles topping Maria Cornel 6-0, 6-4. Bondar then gave the Chants a 3-0 lead after defeating Paloma Alatorre 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4, and Berry clinched the match in Coastal's favor on the sixth court with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Parker.
Babayan (No. 5), Scott (No. 1) and Yazawa (No. 2) capped the match with straight sets victories over Mason Thomas, Malin Allgurin and Pelak, respectively.
Sunday's match marked the beginning of Coastal's final stretch of the season that, barring any changes, features six more meetings with Big South Conference opponents. The Chants take the road for their next four contests, beginning with UNC Asheville on Saturday at 11 a.m.
