ROCK HILL, S.C. -  On the heels of arguably its biggest win in program history, the Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse team dropped its second conference game of the season by a final score of 12-4 at Winthrop's Eagle Field on Sunday afternoon.
The two teams traded goals to start the game before Winthrop scored four consecutive goals to end the first half.
Coastal then scored two straight goals to start the second half and cut Winthrop's lead to 5-3, but the Golden Eagles pulled away from there. They scored seven consecutive goals in just over eight minutes before the Chanticleers netted the final goal of the game.
For Coastal Carolina, junior attack Sara Nolan recorded a hat trick, her third of the season, while Keri White also added a goal.
Winthrop was led by hat tricks from both Jenna Kasmarik and Logan McCarthy, who also added an assist.
The loss drops the Chanticleers to 7-5 overall this season and 2-2 in Big South play, while Winthrop improves to 12-2 overall and 4-0 in conference play.
Coastal Carolina will return to action on Friday, April 17 as they host Gardner-Webb at 6 p.m. at the CCU Soccer Stadium.
