Final Stats

Asheville, N.C. - The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team was eliminated from the Big South Championship on Monday after suffering a 4-2 semifinal loss to No. 4 Campbell at the Asheville Racquet Club.

The top-seeded Chanticleers tied the match twice in singles after surrendering the doubles point to fall behind early, but were unable to gain an advantage as Campbell closed out the match by taking final two singles points on courts five and four.

Coastal's top doubles pairing of Philippe Tsangarides and Kaue Pereira evened the doubles point with an 8-6 victory after Campbell's Steven Billington and Nicolas Rakitin took the No. 3 match 8-4.

The doubles point came down to the No. 2 match where Campbell's duo of Lukas Schaefer and Jonathan O'Neal managed to hold on for a tight 8-7 (7-3) victory over Renan Samed and Pedro Leme.

Pereira grabbed the first singles point for the Chants at No. 2, downing Schaefer 6-2, 6-2. Campbell responded with a 6-4, 6-4 win from Marthinus Visser at No. 6, but Velickovic quickly evened the match for a second time at No. 3 after topping Rakitin 6-1, 6-3.

O'Neal (No. 5) and Adrien Rossignon (No. 4) then finished off the match with a pair of three-set wins.

Coastal ends the 2015 season with a 12-6 overall record. The Chants' 6-1 conference record earned them their fourth Big South regular season championship in the program's history.
