Conway - Frantzdy Pierrot came off the bench and scored two late goals to send Coastal Carolina to a 2-0 win over Howard University in Sun Belt men's soccer action.
The two teams battled back-and-forth for 84 minutes until Pierrot was able to take a free kick off the foot of Martin Melchor and find the back of the net for the first goal of the match, which would be all the Chanticleers would need.
The twosome once again hooked up just two minutes later in the 86th minute when Pierrot once again took a pass from Melchor and got the shot past the Howard goalie.
Coastal (6-5-3, 2-1-1 SBC) outshot the visitors 17-7 with eight of those coming on goal. Howard (1-13, 0-3 SBC) goalkeeper Kenneth Hersey came up with six saves, but the last two shots he faced were the shots the Chants needed for the win.
The goals for Pierrot were his team-leading fourth and fifth of the season while the assists gave Melchor a team-leading four.
The Chanticleers will be off for a week, but will take a cross-country trip Saturday, Oct. 29 to face UCLA at 7 p.m.
CCU will be back home for their final game of 2016 Nov. 5 when they host Georgia State.
