Women's Tennis Falls 5-2 at Furman

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team had its four-match winning streak snapped on Saturday as the Chanticleers fell 5-2 at Furman.
The loss drops Coastal to 4-2 on the season.
"Today wasn't our best performance but hats off to Furman," said Catherine Hewitt. "They got us in a bit of a hold and kept us there."
Furman took two of three doubles matches to win the opening point, and bested the Chants on all but two of the singles courts.
Coastal's top doubles paring of Libby Scott and Sara Bondar recorded the lone win, 6-3.
CCU's No. 2 paring of Marie Babayan and Romane Delay fell 6-4, while Laura Mary and Cari Berry were defeated 6-3 on court three.
Delay and Berry recorded Coastal's two points of the match in singles, each winning in three sets.
Delay won 7-5, 2-6, 10-7 at No. 3, while Berry was victorious by a 6-3, 4-6, 14-12 score at No. 6.
Both of Coastal's points came after the match was already decided as Furman grabbed the first three singles points on courts two, four and three.
Coastal's match scheduled for Sunday at USC Upstate has been postponed, and a new date has not been decided upon. The Chants will return to action on Tuesday when they host College of Charleston for a 3 p.m. match at the Coastal Carolina Tennis Complex.
