CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team held Charlotte without a point Sunday afternoon at the 49er's Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex as the Chanticleers recorded their first 7-0 victory of the season.
Coastal's third straight win improves the Chants to 7-3, 1-0.
"Heading into March I could not be happier with direction we are headed in as a team," said Chanticleer coach Catherine Hewitt. "I'm looking forward to building on the momentum from our match today."
The Chants took the opening doubles point with wins on the first and third courts.
Sara Bondar and Libby Scott blanked Tai Martin and Victoria Pahlett at No. 1, and Marie Babayan and Romane Delay bested Tyler Baker and Macy Vonderschmidt 6-4 at No. 3.
Coastal then swept all six singles matches, with all but one finishing in straight sets.
Scott, Natalie Wall and Babayan won in straight sets on the top three courts, respectively, as did Delay (No. 5) and Bondar (No. 6). Cari Berry dispatched Fleur Holtkamp 6-4, 5-7, 10-6 at No. 4.
Coastal ends its three-match road swing on Friday when the Chants face Longwood for their second Big South Conference match of the season.
