CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team tallied its 13th consecutive home victory on Thursday as the Chanticleers won a tight 4-2 match over the visiting UNC Greensboro Spartans.

Coastal (8-2, 2-0) remains undefeated at the Coastal Carolina Tennis Complex -- now in its second year of use -- improving its home record this season to 7-0 after having won all six of its home matches last year.

"Today was a very closely contested match," commented Chanticleer coach Chris Powers after the win. "Both teams fought really hard today. I am proud of the way we came back today to get the win. It speaks to the character we have built as a team so far this season."

Coastal continued its strong doubles play as of late, taking two of the three courts to jump out to a 1-0 match lead.

The No. 2 doubles match resulted in a 6-1 win for UNCG's Connor Thompson and Daniel Mack, though the top Chanticleer pairing of Pedro Leme and Vuk Velickovic responded with a 6-2 win over Warren Bryan and William Albright.

The point was decided on the third court, where Rick Timmerman and Luiz Faria scratched out a tight 7-5 victory over Ian Melnik and Logan Walker.

The Chants then outperformed the Spartans 3-2 in singles to finish of the match. The No. 4 match went unfinished with Coastal's Sebastian Schneider leading UNCG's Gaston Murray in the third set.

Coastal picked up singles wins by Velickovic (No. 2), Leme (No. 3) and Planchard (No. 6). Planchard's match was won in straight sets, while Velickovic and Leme each bested their opponents in the third.

Thompson (No. 1), and Bryan (No. 5) were the singles winners for the Spartans.

Coastal remains at home for its next six matches, beginning with a 10 a.m. meeting with James Madison on Saturday.
