Coastal Keeps Rolling Versus Morgan State

CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team handed Morgan State a 6-1 loss Monday afternoon at the Coastal Carolina Tennis Complex to record its ninth straight win since Feb. 20.
The Chanticleers improve their overall record to 13-3, while Morgan State drops to 2-5 with the loss. During its current streak, Coastal has beaten seven of its nine opponents by at least five points, including four 7-0 shutouts.
The Bears had only five active players for Monday's match, resulting in Coastal wins by forfeit on the third doubles and sixth singles courts.
On the first and second doubles courts, the Chanticleer pairs of Natalie Wall/Cari Berry and Romane Delay/Marie Babayan turned in matching 6-3 victories.
As play turned to singles, Babayan (No. 2), Wall (No. 3) and Berry (No. 5) each wrapped their respective matches in straight sets to give the Chants a 5-0 match lead.
Bondar closed out Coastal's scoring with a three-set win over Cierra Plummer at No. 4, and MSU's Kayla Price tallied the Bears' lone point at No. 1 after topping Delay in two sets.
Coastal returns to the court on Thursday to host Liberty in a battle for first place in the Big South standings. The Chants' 4-0 conference record will be on the line against a Liberty team that has won all five of its league matches so far. First serve from the Coastal Carolina Tennis Complex is set for 1 p.m.
