Coastal Falls in Six, 12-4, to Stanford

HONOLULU, HI. - The Coastal Carolina softball team dropped a 12-4 decision in six innings to Stanford Saturday afternoon.

Coastal (8-10) will be back in action with two games tomorrow versus Stanford, 10:00 a.m. HST (3:00 p.m. EST) and Hawaii starting approximately at noon (5:00 p.m. EST).

Stanford took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. With bases loaded and two outs, Stanford's Victoria Molina was hit by the pitch to force in run followed by walk to give the Cardinal the two-run lead.

Mackenzie Conrad was walked, then advanced to second on a wild pitch. Alexis Alvino singled down left field, advancing Conrad to third. Adriana Toro (1-for-2) and Bri Chiusano (2-for-3) both delivered RBI singles to tie it up 2-2 in the top of the second.

In the bottom of the second, Stanford's Bessie Noll hit a two-run homer to regain the lead (4-2).

Coastal answered in the top of the third with a Kelsey Dominik blast over the center field fence to close the CCU deficit to 4-3.

In the bottom of the fourth, pinch hitter Lauren Frost hit a grand slam to put Stanford up 8-3.

Coastal cut its deficit in half, 8-4, in the top of the sixth as Noad hit an RBI single up the middle to bring home Angela Buccilli.

In the top of the sixth, Stanford's Savannah Schulze plated Bessie Noll to improve the lead to 9-4. Then, a wild pitch gave the Cardinal a 10-4 cushion. Whitney Burks provided the final score, 12-8, with a two-run single down the third base line.

Taylor Rahach (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing five runs in 3.1 innings.
