CONWAY - Coastal Carolina head women's lacrosse coach Kristen Selvage has been elected to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Board of Directors as a Division I representative, the organization announced Thursday.

Selvage, one of just four Division I representatives on the Board, was elected to a two-year term that runs through May 2018. "Serving the IWLCA is an honor and a privilege," Selvage said of being elected. "It is a way to give back to our game and create a brighter future for our collegiate players while we continue to grow our game."

Three new Board members were elected, along with four members who were already serving. "I am very pleased to welcome our new and returning Board members," said IWLCA President Alicia Groveston. "We have a very good blend of experienced coaches who have a proven track record of service to the IWLCA. I look forward to working with the entire Board and our staff this year as we continue to seek out opportunities to fulfill our mission and serve our membership."

Selvage, who is entering her second season at the helm at Coastal, led the Chanticleers to an 11-7 record in 2016, including a 5-3 mark in Big South play to earn the No. 4 seed in the conference playoffs. Prior to CCU, she spent 15 years as head coach at Lock Haven, where she made three NCAA Division II championship appearances. Selvage also previously served as the IWLCA president and as a Division II representative.

The full 14-member board will meet in Richmond, Va., next week prior to the IWLCA Champions Cup recruiting tournament.

The IWLCA, a 501c non-profit educational organization, is a membership-led association representing the nation's intercollegiate women's lacrosse coaches within Division I, II and III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Its mission is to cultivate the growth of and to promote excellence in intercollegiate women's lacrosse.
