Final Stats

CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina volleyball team suffered a three-set loss (25-27, 21-25, 20-25) to Texas State Sunday afternoon at the HTC Center.

The loss is Coastal's first against a Sun Belt opponent this season as the Chants fall to 6-7 overall and 3-1 in conference. Texas State, meanwhile, improves to 11-7 overall with a matching 3-1 league mark.

Coastal was held to a .065 hitting percentage, its lowest mark of the season. Texas State's defense registered 51 digs and five blocks, while its offense had three players in Amy Pflughaupt (12), Jaliyah Bolden (12) and Megan Porter (11) register double-digit kills.

Leah Hardeman's seven kills led the Chants, while Aristea Tontai led all players with six blocks -- a career high for the freshman middle blocker.

The opening set featured 10 ties and four lead changes as extra points were needed before Texas State took a 1-0 match lead. Porter and Bolden each had four kills in the set to lead the Bobcats. The final tie of the game came when Dora Lulic evened the score at 25-25 with a kill, but Texas State responded with a kill and Micah Dinwiddie landed an ace to give the Bobcats the set.

Coastal's hitting dropped to .025 in the middle frame as Texas State totaled 18 digs and three blocks. Texas State won six straight points early in the set to take an 11-6 lead, and remained ahead by at least three points for the remainder of the set.

The Chants claimed the first two points of the final set, but that would prove to be their only lead of the game. Texas State took the lead for good when a Porter kill gave the Bobcats a 6-5 lead, and they later won five straight points to lead the set by as many five.

Coastal continues its five-match home stand next weekend as it welcomes Georgia Southern and Georgia State to the HTC Center for Friday and Sunday matches, respectively.
