PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. - The Coastal Carolina men's golf team shot a 303 in round two of the John Hayt Collegiate and stand in 14th place (298-303 =601)with one round remaining at the par 72, 6,976-yard Sawgrass Country Club.
Host and 36th-ranked North Florida vaulted into first place with a 286 Saturday and has a two-day total of 577 (291-286). Jacksonville, ranked 31st nationally, jumped six spots into second place (580) whiel day one leader and 49th-ranked UCF dropped into a three-way tie for third with Tennessee and #33 Liberty (584).
Coastal Carolina Thadd Obecny II continues to lead the Chanticleers. The junior is tied for 17th with a two-day total of 146. After a one-under round of 71 Friday, Obecny carded a 75 with 13 pars and a birdie to his credit.
Luis Ruiz is tied for 38th after turning in a 75 Saturday and has a 36-hole total of 149 (73-76). Alfredo Ruiz and Ryan Carpenter are tied for 55th with a two-round score of 153 while Olle Widegren is 83rd with a score of 170.
Daniel Overas, playing as an individual, is tied for 47th. The sophomore shot an opening-round 78 before cutting five strokes off that total for a second-round 73 and two-day total of 151.
