LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Coastal Carolina (9-12, 4-7) suffered a 79-47 loss at Little Rock (17-6, 11-0) Saturday afternoon inside the Trojans' Jack Stephens Center.
Little Rock -- the league leader in the Sun Belt -- used an 18-3 run in the second quarter to build a substantial lead early, and had three players score in double figures as the Trojans won their 11th straight game.
Kaitlyn Pratt led all players with 19 points, followed by Ronjanae Degray's 13 and Carolee Dillard's 11. Led by Kyra Collier's six steals, the Trojans totaled 13 swipes and forced 24 Coastal turnovers, resulting in 32 points.
Ced Gibson's 10 points led Coastal in scoring, while Alexis Robinson once again paced the Chants in rebounds with 11 -- her third straight game reaching double figures in the category.
Little Rock led Coastal in field goal shooting percentage, 54.9 -- 36.7. For the second game, Coastal won the rebounding battle, 32-29, in a losing effort.
Little Rock opened the game scoring five straight points and later used a 9-0 run to take a 16-6 lead by the end of the first quarter. Coastal opened the second quarter with four straight points on a Gibson jumper and a pair of Naheria Hamilton free throws to bring the Trojans' lead back to single digits. Little Rock, however, outscored Coastal 18-3 over the remaining 7:46 of the quarter -- 10 of those points came from the free throw line, including each of the last eight -- to carry a 34-13 lead into halftime.
Little Rock made nine of its 14 field goal attempts in the third quarter, and added another six points from the line to push its advantage to 26 points by the end of the frame. The Trojans continued to put pressure on in the fourth quarter, eventually working to a game-high lead of 35 points as the contest drew to a close.
Coastal returns home later this week to host a pair of Sun Belt games at the HTC Center. The Chants host Georgia State Thursday at 7 p.m., and Georgia Southern Saturday at 1 p.m.
