Devin Wallace improved her record to 5-0 on the season by scattering seven hits and allowing two runs. Ashley Guillette picked up her first save of the season by getting the final three outs.
The Norse got on the scoreboard first. After a CCU error, Zahrya McFarland hit and RBI single down the right field line for a 1-0 lead.
CCU tied the game up in the bottom half of the second inning. Timi Tooley led off with a walk and moved to second on a Kailey Mellen sacrifice bunt. Mackenzie Budinger plated Tooley on a double to right center.
The Chanticleers had back to back two-run innings in the fourth and fifth on two two-run home runs by Mellen (fourth) and Alexis Alvino (fifth) to close out the scoring for the home team.
NKU made it interesting in the seventh. After loading the bases, Paige McQueen was hit by a pitch to force home a run and make the score 5-2. With bases still loaded, Guillette recorded two strikeouts and a pop out to end the contest.
The Chants return to action on Tuesday (March 7) by hosting ACC opponent Virginia Tech. First pitch is set for 6 pm.
