MERCER, Ga. – The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team saw its first action of the fall season this weekend at the Mercer Gridiron Classic. The Chants finished the event with a 29-11 overall record and a pair of flight championships by
Pyry Hyrkkonen in singles and
Gonzalez Achondo/
Daiki Tanabe in doubles.
Coastal dominated the Flight B men's singles draw, placing three Chants in the semifinals and two in the championship match. Hyrkkonen won the flight over teammate
Gonzalez Achondo in the championship match, and previously defeated teammate
Daiki Tanabe in the semifinals.
Achondo/Tanabe claimed the Flight B men's doubles championship with wins over North Georgia, Alabama State and Kennesaw State.
