NEW ORLEANS, La. – Anett Nemeth was voted the Sun Belt Volleyball Freshman of the Week, while Sydney Alvis was voted the Co-Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
 
This is the fifth Freshman of the Week honor for Nemeth this season, and sixth weekly honor overall. She has won the award in five of the six weeks in which Coastal has competed this season. She additionally ties former Chanticleer Leah Hardeman for the program record of five conference freshman of the week honors in one season.
 
Alvis is winning Defensive Player of the Week for the first time this season, and second time in her Coastal career. She captured the award once in the 2017 season.
 
The pair helped Coastal remain undefeated in Sun Belt play with a pair of victories over Arkansas State and Little Rock this past weekend.
 
Nemeth averaged 3.33 kills, 3.22 digs and 2.33 assists per set while hitting .284 in the pair of victories. Nemeth followed a 12 kill, 11 dig double-double against A-State with an 18 kill, 19 assist, 18 dig triple-double against Little Rock. It was just the Sun Belt's second triple-double of the season. She added five service aces and four blocks over the two matches.

Nemeth's triple-double on Sunday was the first for Coastal since Kelsie Mauck tallied 10 kills, 51 assists and 11 digs versus Radford in the 2010 season.
 
Alvis, a senior defensive specialist, led the Chants defensively averaging 5.56 digs per set. She posted 26 digs in each contest, claiming the match high in the category in Coastal's second match versus Little Rock. Like Nemeth, Alvis totaled five aces over both matches.
 
Coastal, winners of its last 18 consecutive Sun Belt matches, returns to action Tuesday evening at Georgia State. First serve of the match is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. from Atlanta, Ga.
