NEW ORLEANS, La. – Junior guard DJ Williams of the Coastal Carolina women's basketball team has been voted this week's Sun Belt Women's Basketball Player of the Week, it was announced Tuesday.
 
Williams averaged 22.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in a pair of wins over Bowling Green and Memphis in the Coastal Carolina Thanksgiving Classic this past weekend. She also shot over 60 percent from the field, hitting 17 of 28 attempts, and 71 percent from the free-throw line.
 
The Moreno Valley, Calif., native had a 26-point, 12-rebound double-double in Friday's win over Bowling Green. Williams also provided the game-winning points for the Chants, knocking down a pair of free throws with five second remaining to give Coastal an 81-80 victory. Against the Tigers, Williams totaled 19 points while making seven of 10 shots from the field and four of five attempts at the line. She also hauled in five rebounds and dished out three assists in the win over Memphis.
 
Coastal returns to action on Saturday when it travels to North Carolina Central for a 2 p.m. game at the Eagles' McDougald-McLendon Arena.
