Chanticleers to Host Red Wolves on Saturday at 5 p.m.

Conway, S.C. – Coastal Carolina football returns to action this Saturday, Nov. 10, as the Chanticleers will host the Arkansas State Red Wolves in a Sun Belt Conference cross-divisional matchup inside Brooks Stadium at 5 p.m. ET on Hall of Fame weekend.

Series Versus A-State
• Sun Belt cross-divisional foes Coastal Carolina and Arkansas State will meet for just the second time on the football field on Saturday afternoon at Brooks Stadium in Conway, S.C.
• Coastal Carolina is 0-1 all-time versus Arkansas State with the Red Wolves defeating the Chanticleers 51-17 on Oct. 14, 2017, in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Bowl Bid On The Line
• Not only is this an important Sun Belt Conference matchup, but a bowl bid is on the line for both the Chanticleers and the Red Wolves.
• With both CCU and A-State sitting on five wins heading into play this weekend, the winner of Saturday's contest at Brooks Stadium will not only record win number six on the season but will also become bowl eligible.
Hall Of Fame Weekend
• A total of nine former student-athletes, coaches and staff members will officially be inducted into the George F. "Buddy" Sasser Hall of Fame on Friday, Nov. 9, at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club.
• The Class of 2018 is the 28th class to be inducted into the CCU Athletics Hall of Fame and includes Brittany Henderson (women's golf), Jose Iglesias (baseball), Cody Wheeler (baseball), Chelsey Kimes (volleyball), Erica Peake (track & field), Sebastian Soderberg (men's golf), Mike Tolbert (football), Alan LeForce (women's basketball head coach) and William D. "Bill" Edmonds (CCU photographer).
• The new inductees will be recognized at halftime of the game on Saturday versus Arkansas State.
A Season of Firsts
• The 2018 season has seen a lot of firsts for the Chants, mainly in the wins column.
• Four of the Chanticleers' wins this season are the first wins over their opponents in program history.
CCU FIRST-EVER WINS IN 2018
Chants Do It Big
• Almost half of the Chants' touchdowns this season (16-of-33) have come on "big plays" that were 20 yards or more.
Chants Seeking Awards
• Coastal Carolina freshman kicker Massimo Biscardi was named a top 20 semifinalist for the Lou Groza National Collegiate Place-Kicker Award, presented by the Orange Bowl. The award is presented annually to college football's top place-kicker by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission.
• Coastal Carolina sophomore defensive end Jeffrey Gunter was announced as one of 20 top finalists for the 2018 Blanchard-Rogers Award (South Carolina's Heisman) presented by Hale's Jewelers, it was announced by the South Carolina Football Hall of Fame (SCFHOF). The award goes out to the most outstanding collegiate player of the year that has South Carolina ties.
• Senior wide receiver Malcolm Williams was named to the Biletnikoff Award watch list earlier this season and was part of the Biletnikoff Award fan vote this month. The award annually recognizes the outstanding receiver in college football.
• Junior wideout Ky'Jon Tyler was named a 2018 Burlsworth Trophy nominee. The award is given to the most outstanding football player who began his career as a walk-on and has shown outstanding performance on the field.
• Sophomore linebacker Silas Kelly was named preseason second-team all-Sun Belt to start the season.
• Coastal Carolina associate head coach Jamey Chadwell was named a 2018 Broyles Award nominee, the Frank & Barbara Broyles Foundation announced on Wednesday, Nov. 7. The award honors college football's top assistant coaches.
Norman Gives Back (Full Story Here)
• Former Coastal Carolina University football all-American Josh Norman has made a major donation to his alma mater that will benefit both athletics and academics. It is the largest gift ever given to the University by a former Chanticleer student-athlete. In recognition of his philanthropic generosity, CCU announced that the athletics field house at Brooks Stadium has been named the Marrio and Josh Norman Field House, after Josh and his brother, Marrio, who also played football for the Chanticleers.
• A majority of Norman's gift has been designated for the Brooks Stadium expansion project. It will also provide financial support for walk-on football student-athletes as well as CCU's communication and theatre programs.
• A native of Greenwood, S.C., Josh Norman played cornerback at CCU from 2008-11. In CCU's career record books, he is ranked first in pass breakups and passes defended, and is ranked in the top-six in interceptions, unassisted tackles, forced fumbles and blocked kicks. He was named first-team all-Big South Conference in 2009, 2010 and 2011; was a first-team Associated Press FCS all-American in 2011, and earned third-team honors as a sophomore in 2009.
• Norman is the only player in Big South history to play in both the East-West Shrine Game and the Senior Bowl. He was a finalist for the 2011 Buck Buchanan Award, given annually to the top defensive player at the NCAA FCS level. In 2012, Norman became the third-ever CCU football player to get drafted into the NFL.
