Conway, S.C. – Junior guard
Caitlin Roche scored 18 points to lead five players in double figures Wednesday as Coastal Carolina ran away with a 128-39 win over Meredith College at the HTC Center.
Coastal improved to 6-1 on the year with its four consecutive win. Wednesday's game marked an HTC Center record as Coastal won its eighth consecutive home game in the building.
The 128 points also set a school record, surpassing the 121 scored in a win against Barber-Scotia in the 2014-15 season, and the 89-point margin of victory was one point shy of the program's record.
Roche, who had all of her points in the first half, was followed by junior center
Naheria Hamilton and sophomore forward
Alise Davis, who had 16 apiece. Davis set a career high with her scoring total.
Junior guard
DJ Williams had 12 points and freshman center
Aja Blount added 10. All 13 Chanticleer players scored for coach
Jaida Williams.
Coastal jumped out to a quick 20-4 lead, with Roche scoring 12 of those early points. The Chanticleers held a commanding 75-26 halftime advantage. Roche and Williams each only played three minutes in the second half without scoring. Coastal finished with a one-sided edge in rebounding at 57-21 and shot a torrid 61 percent (54-89) from the field.
The Chanticleers are back in action at 2 p.m. Saturday with a home game against North Carolina Wesleyan.
