CONWAY - Haley Alexander paced Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse team with seven goals, as the Chanticleers dropped former ASUN member Detroit Mercy 14-6 Thursday evening, in Brooks Stadium.

With the victory CCU improved to 8-7 overall and 3-1 in the conference while the Titans fall to 8-7 and 3-1 in the Southern Conference.

Detroit Mercy took a two-goal lead early in the game on goals by Morgan Girardi (28:55) and Kaitlyn Wandelt (22:43) before the Chanticleers answered back with four straight.

Madeline Bromley put Coastal on the scoreboard with the assist coming from Sarah McEvoy with 22:20 remaining in the first half. Sophie Crowther then filled the back of the net with 50 seconds expiring from the game clock to even the match at two to two. Alexander then got the first of her seven on the day with an unassisted goal with 18:59 to play until half, she followed with her second goal with 13:33 to push the Chants lead to 4-to-2.

UDM answered back to tie the match at four on goals by Jessica Snyder on the assist from Kristina Ellis with 8:01 to play and Lexie Kinmond with a free position shot and goal with 6:05 on the clock.

Alexander then closed out the first half scoring with the hat trick goal with 4:07 and the five to four halftime lead.

Megan Busch started the second half scoring getting the unassisted goal with 27:47 remaining in the game for the 6-to-4 advantage. The reigning ASUN Player of the Week Haley Kyger scored her lone goal of the day to make it seven to four with 21:45 to go. With 20 minutes remaining on the clock, Alexander scored her 38th goal of the season to make it 8-to-4 on a free position goal.

The Titans scored their first goal of the second half with 12:49 remaining in regulation to pull within eight to five on Girardi's second goal of the day.

Alexander followed with the next three goals to give the Chanticleers an 11-5 lead getting goals with 11:23, 10:08, and 6:05 to play in the match. Crowther got her second goal of the day to make it 12-5 with 4:07 on the clock.

UDM got their final goal when Wandelt scored her second goal of the day with 3:23 remaining in the game.

Coastal closed out the scoring with Julia Imbo filling the back of the net with the feed from Busch with 1:37 to go, and McEvoy got her second point of the day with 45 seconds remaining in the match off the assist from Samantha Courtemanche and the final margin of 14-6.

The Chanticleers will have senior day activities on Sunday, April 22 at 12:00 p.m. to honor the four Chants in the final home match of their careers.
