CONWAY – Mackenzie Gibbs scored in the second half to push Coastal Carolina women's soccer to a 1-0 victory over the visiting Elon Phoenix Saturday evening.
The first half was highlighted with the Chants putting up seven shots with only one being on goal. The game was delayed by lightning just as the first half expired.
Coastal was able to break open the scoring when Gibbs was able to fire a shot by the Phoenix goalkeeper in the 53rd minute. CCU was unable to add to the score but was able to close out the exhibition season with its second victory.
Coastal will return to the pitch on Friday, August 17 as they travel to Davidson to open the season. The kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
