CONWAY – The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team opened the 2018 season with a 1-0 exhibition victory over the visiting Citadel Bulldogs, with the lone tally coming from
Emilia Leturgez on a free ball.
The first half both teams got off two shots on goal and each goalie made two saves. The Chanticleers were unable to take advantage of three shot that were just wide and off the mark.
Leturgez broke open the scoring getting the rebound off a blocked shot and found the back of the net in the 56th minute. Coastal was able to add six more shots on goal from outside the box but was unable to add to the score.
The Chanticleers will return to action on Saturday, August 11 in their second exhibition match to take on Elon, with a 7:00 p.m. scheduled kickoff.
