Kralj Leaves CCU Basketball Program

CONWAY – Coastal Carolina University freshman basketball player David Kralj has decided to leave the Chanticleers basketball program to return home to his native country of Slovenia and plans to play professional basketball.

The 6'-4" guard had played in all 16 games for the Chants and had started the last six. He was averaging 7.5 points per game and was shooting 44 percent from the field and 40 percent from beyond the three-point line. He was also shooting 75 percent at the free throw line.

He scored his career-high of 15 points in the Chanticleers Sun Belt Conference opening road-win at Troy and was tied for the fourth-leading scorer on the team.

"We want to wish David all the best in his quest to play professional basketball," Head Coach Cliff Ellis said. "We live in a time where the one and done philosophy is talked about on all levels of basketball and there are opportunities out there for these young men to take their talents to the next level after a short amount of time playing college basketball."

"The timing of this is bad for the team, but David is an outstanding talent and showed that in his short time with the Chanticleers and again we wish him nothing but the best."
